The Teacher’s Lounge

The teacher’s lounge is one of the greatest mysteries to the young 6th graders and some of the 7th graders. They have always wondered what is in there. A select few young kids wait until there aren’t anymore teachers around and try and work up enough guts to peek in. They see what most all of the eight graders have seen already. Their hopes are destroyed when they see the one couch, a couple of chairs, a small fridge, and a microwave. They walk out disappointed.

The teacher’s lounge is down by the Tech Ed and chorus rooms on the northeast side of the building. Teachers come here to relax after teaching the students. I could tell you all the subjects they teach, but it would take forever. Teachers come all the time. This room could hold around 20 teachers, but nobody will try because they would be really packed in. On the average, about 2-5 teachers are in the room at one time. Nobody teaches in this room because all the teachers know everything and nobody wants to hear about it. Plus, nobody needs to be taught how to sit back and relax.

Report Papers

Writing is a skill that we covered during the year.  I feel that it is important to include this skill as part of the final test.  The report that you submit will account for 35% of your final test grade.

Include one picture to go along with your report.  The report must answer at least five (5) of the six (6) asking questions (who, what, where, why, when, how).  You will be graded primarily on your effort and your English skills.  There will also be other criteria used for the grading.  To make it as simple as possible, do your best work.  Your efforts will determine your grade.

If a room:
Explain the room or area as best you can.  Describe what takes place there.

If a person:
Interview teachers (how long in Milbank School District; years taught; best memory of teaching; subjects taught; how they feel about being in the "new" Middle School; etc.)

These reports do not need to be very long.  Two good paragraphs will be enough.  You must have your report proofread twice before submitting it to me.
