Two Thousand Ten...The Summer of
THE CRASH! |
(May 26, 2010) We said good-bye to our old tennis court surface and
its color scheme. Alex models the courts one last time. |
(May 30, 2010) Mom had lots to organize, throw out,
and (mostly) take home after her retirement.
|
(June 3, 2010) The resurfacing placed Milbank summer tennis on hold for
about two weeks. Notice the bright yellow poles. ;) |
(June 8, 2010) This is my look after I stopped my momentum with my head.
I flipped my scooter and my head hit pavement. Knockout!! |
(June 9, 2010) CR and I stained Nelson's garage at the lake about 35
hours after the accident. No time to feel sorry for self. |
(June 10, 2010) Warning signs were put around the
sandpile shortly AFTER I crashed and almost burned. I don't remember
hitting the pile nor getting up and walking away from the crash site.
I do remember the sirens of the ambulance coming for me. |
(June 10, 2010) My nieces and nephew were happy to
take a picture with their scraped and bruised uncle. |
(June 13, 2010) I enjoyed following the healing process and the
brilliant colors that came about.
|
(June 21, 2010) Alex, who will be entering eighth grade this fall, hits
with his dad on the "new" Milbank tennis courts. |
(June 22, 2010) It got hot--quite hot--while we were finishing Ms.
Howell's place. CR takes time to pose with the truck that died earlier
in the job. We finished the job today! |
(June 22, 2010) With my new Dolphin trunks on, I took a dip into the
Cantine's pool for the first time ever on this amazing evening. What a way
to celebrate the completion of Ms. Howell's house ("S" side)! |
(June 26, 2010) R. Gruba waxed my FIN-mobile and the results were
breath-taking. |
(June 28, 2010) Jeremy D. was hired and performed nicely on the paint
crew. This is his first day; it was at Fraasch's and it was the
opposite of freezing outside. |
(July 11, 2010) Uncle Kenny doing what he loves to do most: driving
tractor. |
(July 13, 2010) Another "new" court came to Milbank as the high school
basketball court was redone. |
(July 20, 2010) This is the first Northern I caught while on our trip in
Canada (Kevin, Alex, Jim, Spencer, Roger, and Roger's brother (Ernie??).
Forty inches--one inch shy of a master angler. Spoiled rotten. |
(July 27, 2010) CR and I spent a good deal of time scraping, priming,
sweating, painting, and avoiding a stupid snake at Gruenwald's. |
(August 7, 2010) Scott, Shane, and Sky take it easy at Vikings camp |
(August 7, 2010) The Double in full and
serious effect high atop Blakeslee Stadium |
(August 7, 2010) Sky and CR wait for Vikings
action--the guy in blue does not appear to be satisfied with something |
(August 7, 2010) No Brett Favre...yet...as the Vikes practice to go 7-9
in the upcoming regular season, a year after reaching the NFC Championship
Game |

I bought a Yamaha scooter from Mr. Hadorn just before summer
began...and it enabled me to learn a lot this summer. I learned all
kinds of scooter stuff and how quickly life can end. By hitting a
sandpile in the middle of a street, I gave my scooter a ride it didn't want.
A trip to the hospital via ambulance served a good wake-up call to be
careful. Going fishing in Canada was another learning
experience...they have more of those cotton pickin' mosquitoes than we do.
The end of summer was celebrated with a trip to Mankato with Scott Cantine,
CR, Eye in the Sky Tietjen and his brother, and Double D. It couldn't
have been more fun. Strangely, I had a chance to sit my a legendary
New York Wet (Mickey Shuler) during the Vikings' practice and got to ask him
about his playing days and his days of battling the Miami Dolphins! |
