I encourage all students to participate in chorus, band, or both.  Students who participate in one or both avoid wasting time in a directed-study.  One of the biggest challenges I face as a teacher is keeping students busy and quiet during directed-study.  I would rather see them learning discipline and responsibility in quality programs like chorus and band.  It is never too late to consider making a change!
