Math/Computer Unit Project | |||
The Plan: Wednesday, January 2, 2013--Mrs. Leddy introduces unit project Thursday, January 3, 2013--Begin researching favorite animals (3 or 4) during English class (one period only); find required information for graph first; if time, gather information that describes your animal and write a rough draft on a half sheet of paper (one paragraph) Friday, January 4, 2013--create paper/pencil tables and graphs during Math class Monday, January 7, 2013--make at least two bar or line graphs showing categories such as average size, average weight, average speed, average life span, or maximum life span (graphs must have different looks); also, include a PERFECT paragraph describing your animal stating extra information you've found (food, sleeping habits, etc.); this must be typed on a Word document underneath your two graphs (you should have somebody proofread your paragraph!) Thursday, January 10, 2013--due by 8:15 AM ("AM" means in the morning) |
Excel: Use Excel to make at least two column, bar or line graphs showing the average weight, life span, speed, or maximum life span. This will be completed during English class. Directions: Open Word document>>>"Insert" tab>>>Chart>>>Select appropriate bar, line, or column graph>>>Enter information for one given category>>>Add labels and make any other changes to enhance the appearance (must make two graphs and they must be different types) |
||
Find the following information on your animal: *Average size *Average weight *Average speed *Habitat *Eating habits *Average life span and/or maximum life span -----Just a suggestion from Santa: you might want to pick some animals that are somewhat common and plenty of information is available for them |
Grading: You are going to receive two grades in two different classes (Math and Computer...and maybe even English, too, depending how it goes). See your teacher for more details. Daily Grade: Math approximately 50 points English/Computer approximately 50 points |
