Giving
DIRECTIONS (follow carefully):
*Put a header at the top of
your Word document. Include your name, period, and date in the header.
Some of you need to start doing this.
You lose points if you don't include a header!
*Include the title under your header with a font size between 18 and 28 (in this
case, your title should be "Giving"). This is a perfect character word
for December.
*You must use at least two of the
six prompts
below to complete your writing:
1)
Provide your own personal definition of giving.
You may use the ideas provided above
(in red)
or on the poster in this classroom, but be sure to use
your own words and style.
2) Does giving always
mean giving money, food, or clothes to others? Is there anything besides
some material thing that can be given? Explain yourself.
3)
Explain what "giving" means to you (what are the
benefits of giving; for example, who is helped by others' giving and/or how can
giving benefit yourself).
4)
Describe two or three real-life or possible real-life
situations that serve as an example of the act of giving (tell what happens or
happened).
5)
How do others (someone you know...famous athlete or
actress, family member, friend, etc.) show this value of giving?
6) What can you
begin to do, continue to do, or change in order to make this value more present
in your life?
*Your writing should be at least
two strong
paragraphs and
180 words (this is NOT to
be very long; maximum font size limit is 14).
*I am going to grade on how well you have
PROOFREAD this paper. If you have lots of little mistakes, your grade
will be very low. This is one paper that you should have a
friend or teacher read (to find
mistakes) before printing! Some of you are clearly not doing this.
Why not hand the paper to
Mr. Cantine
and make
HIM proofread it?
*Another thing I will be grading on is an
introductory sentence (tell what you are writing about in the first sentence).
I will also look for a strong conclusion (what is your final and best point of
your entire writing).
*This is to be printed and turned in on or before
Friday, December 17.
It can also be written on paper.
*We will be doing five more of these writings after December is finished.
*These writings are worth
20
quiz
points each! Take your
time and do them correctly!!
