BUSINESS CARD
Microsoft Publisher

Points to Consider:
1)  A couple of partial working days in class...These might be posted for all to see in our classroom for up to one month along with your poster and business plan.

2)  Open Publisher. Choose a template for your business card.  Adding fill effects or a texture for a background is recommended.  Remember, this is a card for your business and must go along with your poster and writing.

3)  You must use your first and last name (spelled correctly).  If you want to keep some information private, you are allowed to change ONE digit/letter in your phone number and/or e-mail address.

4)  Include 2-4 products or services that your business offers (OR) describe your business in 2-3 phrases.  Do not write sentences; use just a few words. Your font size must be at least eight (8). You may want to use customized bullets.  The name of your business or company must be included on the card.  Consider adding your motto or slogan.

5)  It is mandatory that you include your custom logo somewhere on your business card.  Create a custom logo by using Microsoft Paint (or drawing or using a web site).

6)  Have fun!!!  These will be printed in color around TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2024 (select one card printed to a sheet).  (((Note: any extra credit business cards will be due on Thursday, February 22, at 3:10 PM with no exceptions.  Be creative and think outside the box.)))

GREETING CARD
Made a THANK YOU TO A FORMER TEACHER in 2013--was a huge success!!

Points to Consider:
1)  Part of one working day...This card must be for a person who is not present in this school (think about a parent, an upcoming graduate, an elderly neighbor, a grandparent, or somebody who could use some cheering up).  Sorry, this cannot be made for anybody in middle school.  This card will be given to the person you created it for.
I will make all deliveries to Koch School, St. Lawrence, or wherever else it needs to go in Milbank.  If your teacher does not reside in Milbank, you will be given a stamped envelope.

2)  Open Publisher. Choose a template for your greeting card.  Adding a background and pictures are recommended.  Remember, this is for somebody else, not you.  Keep that in mind when choosing a color scheme, etc.

3)  You must include a HANDWRITTEN message (using a pen) of at least four sentences somewhere INSIDE the card.  You must sign your name in cursive below your handwritten message.

4)  All four sides of the greeting card must be used.  Be creative.  Be sincere.  Be appreciative.

5)  Hallmark cards are expensive...and they only give you two sides of work.  In my opinion, using Publisher is the way to go even if you're only slightly creative.  It saves you money.  People keep homemade cards; Hallmarks get tossed.

Words you might want to use in your card: special, kindness, patience, understanding, work ethic, love, appreciate, remember, memory, memories, discipline, development, thank you, happy, etc.

This is the note that will be placed inside each card (saved to "U" drive as "Notes to teachers--greeting cards or friendly letters"):  This is just a short note to inform you that one of your former students continues to appreciate all that you did during his or her school year with you.  This current eighth grader selected you as having a major impact on his or her life.  Congratulations on being such a positive educator and difference-maker in this young person’s life!

Your greeting card will be graded on:
1)  Effort

2)  Creativity

3)  Overall layout; easiness to read, sincerity, spelling, etc.

***This project is worth a total of 20 daily points.
