Head On

I could see it coming. It started to go faster. When suddenly I heard a scream coming from beside me.

It was four years ago on a normal spring day in April. It had been raining all day and was extremely humid. My family and I were going to church, but we decided that we would take a different route than usual and go the back way. We were about halfway there when suddenly out of the corner of my right eye I could see a small white four door car coming toward us. It was on a side road and it looked like it was going really fast. The second that I saw the car I knew I was the only one who could see it.

Suddenly I heard a scream. The car had hit us head on. My dad swerved the other way and came to a fast stop, running into a stop sign and hitting a tree that looked like it had just been planted. The side that I was sitting on was the side that got hit. I couldn’t open my side door because it was dented in. I sat there in shock kind of scared. My sister Sarah, who was sitting on the other side of me, was sobbing. So we got out of the car and went to talk to the people who were in the other car. They were our neighbors who live down the street. They were going to church too.

I stared at our car. The front was totally demolished and the side had been dented in. We stood there talking and waiting for the police to come. We called my grandma and grandpa and had them come pick me and my sister up. When we got home we just went to our rooms in silence. We were still kind of shook up. My parents came home after about an hour. They said that they had to tow our car away and that it had been totaled. It was one of the worst days of my life.
